ORLC Endorses Emily Semple

1474393562783LOCAL BERNIE SANDERS SUPPORT GROUP ENDORSES EMILY SEMPLE

Our Revolution Lane County is proud to endorse Emily Semple in recognition of her activism and enthusiasm to stand up and fight for and with we the people, for a better community, a welcoming city, and a clean, sustainable world!

Supporters of Bernie Sanders have remained active in federal, state and local races around the country. Sanders has actively encouraged his large base of supporters to engage in local elections in 2016 and work to elect candidates who share Bernie’s goals and values.

To this end, Our Revolution Lane County (ORLC), formerly Lane County for Bernie Sanders, has unanimously voted October 15 to endorse Emily Semple for Eugene city council, Ward 1 position.

Both Semple and her opponent Joshua Skov met separately with ORLC this fall and addressed questions on environment and sustainability, neighborhood protection, homelessness in Eugene, gender and marriage equality.

After a majority of our regular meeting, Saturday October 15, was devoted to discussing these candidates, a ranked choice vote was held. Semple was the unanimous choice.

ORLC members noted Semple’s history of community activism, particularly activism around the homelessness issue. They also noted her support among locally based environmentalists and progressive local public officials including current Ward 1 city councilor George Brown, progressive Ward 2 councilor Betty Taylor, and county commissioner Pete Sorenson.

Our Revolution Lane County is proud to endorse Emily Semple in recognition of her activism and enthusiasm to stand up and fight for and with we the people, for a better community, a welcoming city, and a clean, sustainable world!
